Scott Tapp
“Helping Trees Recover from the Halloween Snow and Ice”
Description
Discussion will include a review of the extreme weather events of 2011 including the above average rainfall, Hurricane Irene and the October 29th snow. What insect and disease problems should we anticipate in 2012 because of the flooding in many areas? How does this impact roots, nutrient leaching, and soil microbial activity? We will review how an arborist decides which trees can be salvaged and which trees should be removed, how extensive damage affects a trees health, and what to expect of those trees in 2012 and beyond. We will also talk about how you can reduce the risk of future damage to your large shade trees as well as your smaller specimen plants.
