Pedro Perdomo, - Rutgers UniversityCourse Title: Disease Control in Turf: Culture, Season, and Selection
NJ Credits: 2 - 3B, 2 - 6 NY Credits: 1 - 3A, 1 - 3B, 1 - 25 Course Description: Turfgrass disease is one of the serious and costly reasons for injury and death to grasses used in lawns, golf courses, sport fields, and other areas where grasses are desired. Disease management in landscape turf is vital to sustaining a healthy and vibrant lawn. Disease identification and control involve more than just waiting for diseases to appear, then trying to make a rapid diagnosis and applying a fungicide. This presentation will focus on the conditions that can lead to a disease and how turf managers should follow basic cultural practices that can reduce disease potential. Knowing when and under what conditions to anticipate various turfgrass diseases, along with new chemistries for preventative and curative applications, an individual can better prepare for what to do about them, saving time and achieving better results in disease control. |
