Course Description:
Employers must provide their applicators and early-entry workers with personal protective equipment (PPE) when the pesticide labeling requires its use. Personal protective equipment is defined by the EPA to be “apparel and devices worn to protect the body from contact with pesticides or pesticide residues.” These include coveralls, chemical-resistant suits, gloves, footwear, aprons, headgear, protective eyewear, and respirators. Employees and applicators must be well versed in their proper use, fitting, and how to check for their efficacy in protecting themselves. A thorough review of all PPE and label-specific precautions commercial applicators in turf and ornamental landscape care must follow and be aware of for the safe and legal application of landscape chemicals will be presented.
