H. Bruce Hellerick - Brickman, Senior Horticulture SpecialistGreening Your Landscape Description: Each customer’s needs are unique and distinctive. Creating a “Sustainable Landscape” means partnering with your customers to achieve their ecological, environmental and economic goals. This presentation will review the seven categories of creating a sustainable landscape: soil health care, plant health care, water management, waste management, equipment innovation, erosion control & storm water management and aquatic habitat management. Bruce's Bio Bruce has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Horticulture from Delaware Valley College of Science & Agriculture and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Penn State University. Bruce started his career with www.BrickmanGroup.com]Brickman in 1995 as Regional Horticulture Specialist and in 2003 he was promoted to Senior Horticulture Specialist. As part of his duties he works with Brickman employees, clients and vendors to continually improve horticultural practices and techniques. He is also the company’s national contact for pesticide vendors and fall bulb purchases and has consulted on horticultural problem across the county. During his tenure Bruce has developed a multitude of educational programs and horticultural process that are now considered standard practice within the company. Some of his credits include: • Co-Author of Brickman University: Horticulture Training Program • Brickman Pruning Manual in English & Spanish • Super (Superintendent/Supervisor) Learning Program for New Employees • Welcome to Brickman: New Employee Orientation Program • Authored the company’s Seasonal Color Process Manual, Turf Process Manual and Landscape Site Analysis & Documentation Program. Prior to joining The Brickman Group, Bruce was employed by Penn State University as a County Agent in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where he conducted educational programs in a wide range of horticultural areas. During his tenure with Penn State, he received national recognition for his landscape management program and has had the opportunity to give presentations at some of the countries top botanic gardens and professional conferences.
